New Zealand blunt Pakistan 4-1 in Commonwealth Games 2022

BIRMINGHAM: The national hockey team faced a landslide victory in their second game of the Commonwealth campaign when New Zealand beat Pakistan 4-1 in the Group A match of the men’s hockey event, here on Sunday.

After an intense first quarter, Hugo Inglis of New Zealand steered his team to a dominant position in the game by scoring two field goals in the second quarter before Pakistan’s Ghazanfar Ali scored the ball in the 27th minute to reduce the advantage.

However, Dylan Thomas made another field goal in the 44th minute to bolster the 3-1 lead in the third quarter.

Sam Lone then extended his team’s lead when he scored the ball in the fourth quarter and Pakistan failed to score even once in the last two quarters.

Earlier on Saturday, the national team finished in a 2-2 draw in their opening match of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
