Indian Premier League

2007: The inaugural IPL season saw eight franchises compete in a Twenty20 format. The Rajasthan Royals emerged as champions, led by Australian Shane Warne.

2008: The second season was held in South Africa due to security concerns in India. The Deccan Chargers, led by Adam Gilchrist, won their first IPL title.

2009: The tournament returned to India and the format was expanded to include 10 teams. The Deccan Chargers failed to defend their title as the now-defunct Chennai Super Kings, led by MS Dhoni, emerged as champions.

2018: The Chennai Super Kings, returning to the IPL after a two-year suspension, won their third title, led by MS Dhoni.

2020: The tournament was held in the United Arab Emirates due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Mumbai Indians won their fifth IPL title, defeating the Delhi Capitals in the final.

2021: The tournament was held in India, but with strict COVID-19 protocols. The Chennai Super Kings won their fourth IPL title, defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.

2022: The tournament was held in India. The Gujarat Titans won their First IPL title, defeating the Rajasthan Royals in the final.

2023: The IPL is yet to take place in 2023, but it is expected to follow a similar format with eight franchises competing in a Twenty20 format. IPL 2023 has been scheduled between March 31, 2023 and May 28, 2023.
