“Steve Ho You Fat, is that the man’s name?”: Victor Wembanyama Loses Social Media’s Interest to Fellow French Player

Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson’s showdown was just a perfect display for the fans and 200 scouts in the building, but someone else rocked the internet.

An exhibition game was held in Nevada between the NBA G League team Ignite and the Metropolitans 92, who play in the French Tier I league.

Before the game, all eyes were on the matchup between the No. 1 prospect in the 2023 draft, Victor Wembanyama, who plays for the French team, and Scoot Henderson, the No. 2 prospect in the same class.

While the game had its fair share of action, equal to or even more than fans and scouts expected, it did have another player that caught everyone’s attention on social media.

It wasn’t his game that made him run the social media rounds even faster than his teammate Victor, who had 37 points, 4 rebounds and five blocks in the game. It was his name, Steeve Ho You Fat, that even ESPN commentators couldn’t help but scoff at.

His name is enough for social networks to offend multiple leftist communities. He may create a plethora of memes to fuel the internet for years to come, and this is why NBA Twitter wants Ho You Fat to play in the US.

Some might even want him over Wembanyama just from hearing his name in the comments every day. But the 34-year-old forward, 6’6, is just a role player in the LNB with a career average of 2.7 points, 1.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.3 steals. So he’s not coming to the NBA.

Seriously, NBA fans and teams couldn’t wait to land the 18-year-old seven-and-a-half-year-old who could cross the entire length of the court in probably 6 steps at decent speed.

Wembanyama isn’t the only superstar prospect in the 2023 NBA Draft

There’s another player who can light up the league from Day 1 in the NBA and teams wouldn’t mind taking Wembanyama if losing him means they have to settle for Scoot Henderson.

He showed why he is the second-best prospect for next year’s draft by leading his G League team to a 122-115 victory against the French first division team. The 6’2 shooting guards had 28 points, shooting 11 of 21 attempts.

Not just his name, his game is also perfect for being an NBA star. Let’s see if these two can reach their potential when they come in. We are only a year away from the day.
