Pakistan contributed 200,000 troops to UN peacekeeping mission: ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has contributed 200,000 soldiers to UN peacekeeping missions around the world, while 169 of them have given their lives to serve humanity globally, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. .

In a message marking UN World Peacekeepers Day, ISPR stated that Pakistan stands out in the community of nations as one of the top troop contributors to UN peacekeeping efforts.

“Pakistan’s journey in UN peacekeeping began in 1960 when the first contingent of the Pakistan Army was deployed for UN peacekeeping operations in the Congo, the media wing said military sharing the history of the missions.

He said that for the past 61 years, Pakistan has been the most significant and consistent contributor to UN peacekeeping worldwide.

“Pakistan has participated in 46 UN peacekeeping missions, including some of the most challenging undertakings, and has so far contributed more than 200,000 soldiers to UN peacekeeping missions around the world” ISPR said.

Furthermore, he shared that so far, 169 Pakistani peacekeepers have sacrificed their lives for the noble cause of helping humanity, building peace and bringing stability to the regions under the UN flag.
