‘My prime goal is to win two World Cups for Pakistan’ Babar Azam

KARACHI: Pakistan’s all-format captain and top-ranked white ball batsman, Babar Azam, expressed his main goal to win two World Cups for Pakistan in the next year and a half.

Babar, who has been in sublime form in cue-ball cricket for over a year and has dominated the rankings, claimed that if he leads his team to World Cup glory, his runs will be worth a goal.

“I am definitely enjoying my form.

But with this form, my main goal is to win both World Cups for Pakistan in the next year and a half and if that happens, I will feel like my runs are worth gold,” Babar said.

The top-ranked ODI batsman also noted that his team must continue to improve to establish themselves as a force in the over-50 format, as well as to secure automatic qualification for next year’s event and a second World Cup victory over of 50. .

“We still need to improve in certain areas,” Babar said after the sweep victory over West Indies, which helped the Greenshirts overtake India in the ICC ODI Rankings.

“We still lose wickets in groups in the middle, which puts us on the defensive. Here the players need better concentration; It is an area to work. Fielding has improved, but our body language still deteriorates when a good partner develops, and that’s another thing we can try to improve,” he maintained.

The Pakistan captain further reviewed his team’s performance in the recently concluded ODI series against West Indies and also commented on the strength of the team’s bench, claiming it gives him a boost.

“We tried a different combination of bowling and they performed very well.

It’s very satisfying as a captain to see that,” Babar said.

“The strength of the bank always gives you a push. Knowing that you have players on the bench that are ready to go is good to know. We had Iftikhar [Ahmed]Abdullah Shafique and [Shahnawaz] Dahani on the bench”, he concluded.
