Kyrie Irving Revealed Learning Business Side of NBA from Billionaire Athlete
The legendary Cavaliers duo formed by LeBron James and Kyrie Irving is responsible for giving us one of the best finals in NBA history.
The iconic 3-1 comeback against a 73-9 Warriors team will remain etched in the memory of hoop fans for eternity.
Both James and Irving gave the people of Cleveland countless moments of basketball brilliance, teaming up for 3 seasons, the 2016 championship being the pinnacle of their success together. During their tenure with the Cavaliers, the duo had a 132-51 record, winning 72% of their games.
Unfortunately, a Finals loss to the Warriors in 2017 led Irving to want a way out, which ultimately sent him to Boston. Although King James did his best to keep the 6-foot-2 guard on board, the latter was not interested in playing second fiddle to the LBJ.
While he did throw shade at James on certain occasions, Irving never forgets to credit the four-time champion for playing a developmental role in his career.
“LeBron James is a genius”: Kyrie Irving reveals Bron’s role in his career.
An ambassador of the game, James is a generational talent. Having entered the NBA straight out of high school at 18, the Akron boy possessed the maturity of a seasoned player, understanding all aspects of the game, both on and off the court.
It wouldn’t hurt to call the 6-foot-9 forward one of the most polarizing players in American sports history, given that there is always a section of critics and detractors looking for even the slightest opportunity to criticize. However, James never let outside noise affect him.
Having witnessed this firsthand, appearing on the I AM AN ATHLETE Podcast, Irving would reveal how James inspired him as well.
“Learning from him (LeBron) helped accelerate my understanding of the game we’re in business. I see him deal with it on camera, off camera being LeBron James, that comes with his own responsibility.
So not only was he teaching me off the court, but on the court, this man is a sage. He’s a genius in terms of how he takes care of his body, how he treats his body, what he does every day so he can be on top.
“ Irving revealed.
The seven-time All-Star added:
“People want to see that man (LeBron) fail every minute of the day.”
Nonetheless, the billionaire athlete has his section of loyal fans backing the four-time 24×7 Finals MVP, something Irving wants to build for himself as well.
In his 20 years in the league, James has built an empire for himself, consisting of various business ventures, endorsements, and philanthropic efforts, becoming a brand.
Will Kyrie Irving and LeBron James meet in Los Angeles?
During the recent summer, rumors of Irving leaving the Nets to join the Lakers were at an all-time high. However, the two organizations could not come to a common ground, and Uncle Drew decided to exercise the player option on him.
Currently, in the final year of his contract, the former champion is due to become a free agent next summer, making it a perfect opportunity for the two superstars to reunite, with Irving filling the gap of a guard shooter, the Lakers so desperately needed.
