Kevin Garnett Couldn’t Fathom Luka Doncic’s Circus Underhand Shot Amidst His 47 Point Outburst
Luka Doncic recorded a sensational performance to help the Dallas Mavericks to a 125-107 victory over the Houston Rockets. During the 18-point win against their in-state rivals, Doncic had several highlight plays. However, one circus shot in particular left the nearly 18,000 spectators at the Toyota Center in awe.
Unsurprisingly, like everyone in the arena, Kevin Garnett also seemed to be impressed by Doncic’s magic.
During the third quarter of the Dallas Mavericks-Houston Rockets match, Jabari Smith Jr. defended Luka Doncic quite well. With the shot clock running down, Doncic’s constant passing did not result in an open look at the basket. Finally, the 6-foot-7 guard launched an underhand shot from just inside the three-point line. Not only did Doncic shoot before the shot clock expired, he hit nothing but the net and the ball went through the basket for the score.

It’s hard to blame Kevin Garnett for his assessment of Doncic’s shot. After all, it was an off-balance shot from just inside the three-point arc.
This is a shot most superstars wouldn’t even attempt, let alone drain while making it look like the easiest thing in the world. But then again, given the kind of night the Slovenian was having, should fans really be surprised?
Doncic had one of the best performances of the 2023-2024 campaign. Playing 35:12 minutes (two minutes less than his average), the European recorded 47 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals, per NBA.com. Doncic leading the Mavs to an 18-point victory with his nearly 50-point triple-double resulted in the Houston Rockets’ 11-game winning streak also coming to an end.
In addition, their seventh consecutive victory has seen Jason Kidd’s boys rise to 5th positionth place in the Western Conference, further increasing the possibility of the Mavericks avoiding the play-in tournament.
