“I’m Trying To Kill”: Shaquille O’Neal Almost Broke a Dog’s Neck After Getting Trashed by His Father

Former Los Angeles Lakers superstar Shaquille O’Neal once attacked a drug dealer’s dog for ripping his new shoes.

Shaquille O’Neal is known for being a kind man. His charity and his big heart have become two defining aspects after retirement. A man who champions the betterment of all communities, O’Neal wasn’t always like that.

Once upon a time, Shaq was a cruel and petty man who bullied NBA players without any consideration. His extraordinary size and strength made it easy for him to overpower almost all opponents.

For O’Neal, his childhood was not much different.

He was huge even when he was a child. To top it off, O’Neal lived with his father, who regularly ripped him apart.

The beating for every trivial matter instilled violence in Shaq. When he was a child, his only redemption from the beating at home was to rip someone and anyone apart.

For the most part, he took it out on the students at his school. Although an obscure incident at school in which a boy suffered an epileptic seizure stopped his violence, O’Neal had been in countless fights up until then.

In fact, he once even tried to kill a dog as a child.

Shaquille O’Neal reacted violently when a dog ripped his shoes

In his book Shaq Uncut, O’Neal recounted in detail the story of Sam the dog. He revealed how the dog broke his new Chuck Taylor converse shoes.

As a child, Shaq lived in Jersey City with his grandmother. There was a park near his grandmother’s house and a drug dealer named Pee Wee lived on the other side. Every afternoon at 4:15, Pee Wee would let the German shepherd out of him and the dog would chase the kids in the park.

So one time, O’Neal’s dad bought him some new, all-white shoes. He then ordered O’Neal to make them last, but Pee Wee’s dog broke them the first day.

Shaq wrote: “I go out in my new Chuck Taylors and strut and feel good. I am the man. But at 4:15 the screen door opens and that damn dog Sam starts coming right at me. I start running and try to jump the fence, but I’m so big that I have trouble climbing there. My feet are dangling and I’m trying to get up, but the dog grabs the back of my shoe and rips it. So I go home and I tell my dad and he’s like, “I don’t want to hear that crap!” and he hits me”.

He continued: “The next day I buy myself a stick, and when Pee Wee’s dog comes out I try to break his neck. I’m so mad at Chuck Taylors I’m trying to kill that dog Sam. The dog runs back into the house and Pee Wee comes out getting really hard and I hit him with the stick too. Next thing you know, all three of his brothers come out and beat me to death. I’m in such a bad way that my father doesn’t even bother to spank me again.”

Luckily, the boy Shaquille O’Neal did not harm the dog. Unfortunately, he was beaten up by his father and then by the drug dealer’s owner of the dog. To be fair, we can understand how O’Neal must have felt.

As if the dog had not only wronged him, but also unfairly punished him for the shoes. And it wasn’t Shaq’s fault. He was innocent at all times. Do you think Shaq’s father was too cruel to him?
