Election Commission of Pakistan grants voting rights to overseas
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission has decided to give voting rights to overseas Pakistanis in general elections.
The landmark decision would enable 3.7 million overseas Pakistanis to participate in elections.
A high level meeting of the commission held here on Tuesday with EC Secretary Ishtiak Ahmed Khan in the chair.

The meeting decided to give the voting right to the Pakistanis living in other countries and registering their names in the electoral rolls.
The meeting also mulled over mechanism of voting which included postal balloting, setting up polling booths in Pakistani embassies and other options.

Election Commision has deleted the votes of Azad Kashmir nationals living in Pakistan. I belong to Azad Kashmir but living in Pakistan since 1970 and have been voting in all the elctions held in the past. Where as Pakistanis living abroad are being extended this facility,depriving Azad Kashmir nationals this right is beyond comprehension. Will the Election Commission re-consider this decision,please.
I belong to Azad kashmir but residing in Rawalpindi/Islamabad (Personal propery) since 1969. I got my early education from Rawalpindi and since then I am placed in Rawalpindi/Islamabad. However I owned land and property in Azad Kashmir which came from my parent side so in CNIC in coloumn of temperory address my address of Islamabad is endorsed and perment address of Azad Kashmir is endorsed in relevant coloumn. It deprived my voting right in Pakistan.
It is also noted that a American National can become Prime Minister of Pakistan but an Azad kashmir resident living in pakistan for 50 years owns property and doing buisness in Pakistan have no right to vote????
