Beating Kevin Durant and His Longhorns With a 22-point Game Got USC’s Nick Young His Recognition

You may remember Swaggy P for the things he did besides play basketball, but the man was good at his craft, sometimes even better than Kevin Durant.

It hasn’t been long since the last time Nick Young played in the NBA. Although he never retired and played his last game four years ago, basketball fans have not forgotten him. Warriors fans should remember him from the 2018 Championship.

Lakers fans, however, will remember him forever. It doesn’t matter if he hasn’t had anything big for it, Swaggy P had a way about him that always made him a crowd favorite.

The Lob City Clippers might have a vivid memory of their pivotal 19-point performance against Kevin Durant and company in 2012, which secured them a playoff spot.

That wasn’t the first time Young had shown off his prowess against the Slim Reaper. They were both from the same Draft class, and the 6’7 shot from USC played KD and also improved his team during his college career.

Speaking on Vlad TV, the 16th pick in the 2007 draft recalled his days at USC when he went toe-to-toe with Durant for the time being and how the Texas forward helped make him famous years before the draft.

Not many people could say they’ve beaten the Seattle Supersonics’ No. 2 pick and 2007 National Player of the Year in the NCAA Playoffs. Young and his team brutally knocked out KD and Co. in the second round of knockouts.

swaggy p He directed the University of South Carolina with his 22-point performance and did just that. He wasted Durant’s 30-point, 9-rebound effort for the Texas Longhorns, beating them 87-68.

Young had only a few games this impactful in the NBA. His three 3-pointers in less than a minute to win a first-round game against the Memphis Grizzlies was one of them.
