Actor and comedian Ahmed Ali Butt has spoken out against the federal government’s latest hike in cooking oil prices.

Turning to his Instagram account, on Wednesday, Ahmed Ali Butt shared a screenshot of the news headline, ‘Government. surprises consumers with an increase of Rs 213 per liter on cooking oil’ in the story, adding the text, “It’s time to start cooking with petrol”.

It is pertinent to mention that the federal government had increased the prices of cooking oil and ghee, which are sold in utility stores across the country, ARY News reported on Tuesday. A notice about the price increase had also been issued, so the new prices became applicable from June 1.

The notice stated that the price of cooking oil had increased by Rs 213 per liter and would be sold at Rs 605 per litre, while the price of ghee had increased by Rs 208 per kg, after which the ghee would be sold at 555 rupees per kg. at utility stores.

Additionally, the prices of other staples including tea, Rooh Afza and Jam-e-Shireen also increased.
