Savannah James’ mother didn’t believe LeBron James would do anything ‘shady’ in Savannah’s absence
LeBron James and Savannah James weren’t spending all their time together when the former moved to the Miami Heat.
LeBron James made perhaps one of the biggest free agent decisions in NBA history in the summer of 2010. Aside from Shaquille O’Neal’s move from Orlando to Los Angeles, James left his home state of Ohio to play in the bright lights. of Miami left the city of Cleveland in absolute chaos.
It felt like the city was littered with the remains of burned LeBron James Cleveland Cavalier jerseys in the first few days after ‘The King’ left. Savannah James, LeBron’s wife, spoke about this:
“Do you have fans that you think are going to roll with you no matter what, and then they burn your jersey? It is unfair. But they did. It’s over.”
Savannah and LeBron had been together for almost 8 years when they decided to move to South Beach. In 2010, they had already had 5-year-old Bronny James and 3-year-old Bryce Maximus. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she talked about how she first came to move to Miami.

In this interview with harper’s bazaar, Savannah James talks about everything from her lifestyle with her children to what her relationship with LeBron James is like. Mind you, this interview is from 12 years ago, but her answers still make sense more than a decade later.
In one particular case, he talks about how LeBron made the decision to leave Cleveland for Miami and his two sons were uprooted from a city they called home for years. Since Bronny also started school that summer, Savannah decided to stay in Cleveland to ease the transition for her children.
With the two separated, the question of James’s loyalty was raised, to which Savannah’s mother replied: Don’t you think he knows the difference between cruelty and love? If LeBron was going to do something shady, he can do it right around the corner. He doesn’t have to go to Miami.”
As they say, moms know better because she made it. Fast-forward to today and both LeBron and Savannah, at least in the public eye, are a perfect example of how healthy a hyped relationship can be.
