Windows 8 Consumer Preview Official Demo [Video]
Microsoft has uploaded the full Windows 8 Consumer Preview keynote Steven Sinofsky gave yesterday at Mobile World Congress. In addition to the 90 minute presentation, you can also watch short demos of specific Windows 8 features on the video site, including how mouse and keyboard works in Windows 8 and new hardware demos.
It’s worth watching if you’re interested in the OS and haven’t tried the Consumer Preview yourself.
Additionally, Grant George of the Windows 8 team has posted a Building Windows 8 blog post with more details about the recommended system requirements for running this beta build.
- 1 GHz or faster processor
- 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
- 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
The Consumer Preview release does permit upgrading from Windows 7, and will run the integrated upgrade advisor to check on any things you might need to look into. Please keep in mind that there is no rollback after an upgrade installation.
