Spotify adds a new AI DJ to the mix, helping you create your own playlists while chatting over, you can think of it as your own personalized radio show.
AI DJ “in your pocket” curates your daily listening experience and is the latest brilliant innovation from the world of artificial intelligence. Chat GPT has been a bit of the spotlight, so it’s finally nice to see small use cases like this one from Spotify.
Brilliant or not, we have yet to see (hear) ourselves, but the general idea is certainly interesting.
What is Spotify AI DJ?
Spotify’s developers tout it as a whole new way to listen. AI DJ will personalize what is happening based on your achievement list. Audio puns aside, the new beta will provide a carefully curated music lineup along with some commentary.

Interrupting commentary between tracks sounds a little suspicious to me, and if we call it a DJ, it’s strictly an old-school kid’s party DJ.
The AI sorts through the latest music and scrolls through your favorite tracks, sometimes adding music to the set that you haven’t heard in a while.
It’s a fun, dynamic way to change playlists without having to find something new every day.
The AI DJ also responds to your feedback, so if you hate one of the songs it has chosen, pressing the DJ button will switch the song. The more you do this (and don’t), the more the AI will know how you currently feel about the music.

Where to Find and How to Use Spotify AI DJ
To give Spotify AI DJ a whirlwind, it is initially available in English for Spotify Premium users in the US and Canada. When it will roll out further is unknown.
- Navigate to your home music feed on the Spotify mobile app on your iOS or Android device.
- Click “Play” on the DJ card.
- Let Spotify do the rest! The DJ will present the music lineup along with brief commentary on songs and artists selected especially for you.
- If you don’t like the song playing, tap the DJ button at the bottom right of the screen to switch to another genre, artist, or mood.
As AI use cases grow, it’s good to see apps like Spotify trying to make sure the user experience is the best it can be.
