Tuba Hassan wins ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award for May 2022

DUBAI: New international cricketer Tuba Hassan from Pakistan made a significant impact in her debut month, winning the International Cricket Council (ICC) Player of the Month award for May 2022.

Tuba, for her brilliant home run on the ball against the Sri Lankan women’s team, won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for May 2022.

The revolutionary, who just played her first cap in May, immediately found herself in the nomination before winning the award on her first nomination.

On her international debut, the leg spinner shone with a splendid 3-8 bowling figure, prompting her to claim the Player of the Match award on her debut.

Tuba, however, only managed to pick up one wicket apiece in the next two games, but he stood out with his economy.

The leg spinner picked a total of five wickets in the series with an average of 8.

8 and a staggering economy of 3.6; to claim the Player of the Series award in Pakistan’s 3–0 victory.

To win the POTM title, Tuba edged out his skipper Bismah Maroof and 17-year-old Trinity Smith from Jersey.

It is pertinent to mention here that Tuba has become the first player from Pakistan to win the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award.

Whereas, Fatima Sana is the only player to win the annual ICC award, as the pacemaker in her right arm won the ICC Women’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year award in 2021.
