Pakistani, Indian players may team-up in Afro-Asia Cup 2023: report

KARACHI: Pakistani and Indian cricketers will be on the same team as part of the revival of the Afro-Asian Cup scheduled for mid-2023.

The tournament will reportedly return next year in the twenty-year format and the best players from both teams are likely to play together, he reported.

Nothing has been confirmed about the tournament so far and fans will have to wait for the official announcement from the Asian Cricket Board (ACC) on the matter, subject to confirmation by the relevant boards and the International Cricket Council.

“There is, of course, the possibility that the boards that traditionally fight will not come to the party, but, at this point, hopes are high.

“We have not yet received confirmation from the boards,” ACC chief business and events officer Prabhakaran Thanraj said, as reported by Forbes.

In the past, the Afro-Asian Cup has been played twice, in 2005 and 2007, and featured stars from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for the Asia XI and South Africa, Kenya and Zimbabwe for the Africa XI.
