NA-240 by election: ECP declares all polling stations ‘sensitive’

KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared all polling stations in National Assembly constituency NA-240 as sensitive, SIAL NEWS reported on Monday.

The National Assembly seat comprising the Landhi and Korangi area of ​​Korangi district in Karachi, became vacant after the death of MQM-P MNA Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan on April 19.

The ECP has declared 203 polling stations in the 309 polling station constituency ‘very sensitive’, while the remaining 106 polling stations have been declared ‘sensitive’. The electoral commission has set up 182 polling stations in Korangi and 127 in the Landhi area for the elections scheduled for June 16.

Seat NA-240 (Korangi Karachi II) has a total of 5,29,855 voters. The electoral body has established 100 polling stations for male voters, 99 PS polling stations for female voters and 110 joint polling stations for by-elections under its voting scheme. The ECP accepted 39 of the 42 nomination papers and rejected three for election.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate’s nomination papers for the NA-240 Korangi by-election were rejected by District Teller Abdul Razzaq. The documents were rejected after the RO found the proponent’s signatures to be forged.

Both the proponent and the candidate’s seconder also did not appear in person before the scrutineer.
