Police crackdown on teachers trying to enter the Red Zone

Karachi: Sindh police on Monday cracked down on teachers protesting outside the Karachi Press club and arrested several teachers, SIAL NEWS reported.

According to the details, teachers from different districts in Sindh had gathered in front of the Press Club to protest against the Sindh government. Police cracked down on protesters as they attempted to march towards the Chief Minister’s house in the Red Zone.

A confrontation between the police and the protesting teachers broke out after the police charged the protesters with batons. The police also arrested several teachers.

The police also blocked all roads leading to the Chief Minister and also ordered a water cannon to disperse the protesters.

The teachers staged a similar protest a few weeks ago, which ended after the teachers reached an agreement with the Sindh government.

However, the teachers staged another protest alleging that their demands were not met.

Sindh: Teachers will receive offer orders from today

Earlier, Sindh Education and Culture Minister Sardar Shah said the provincial government plans to introduce licenses for school and university teachers.

All professions, be it lawyers, doctors, engineers, and others, are licensed, but unfortunately, teachers are not.

Our goal is to change that and issue compulsory licences, Sardar Shah had said.
