Mobile Phone services to be suspended in 60 cities across Pakistan today
ISLAMABAD: In line with the government’s security plan on the occasion of the 12th Rabiul Awwal, cellular phone services will remain suspended in around 60 cities across the country today (Friday).
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), on the directives of interior ministry, has started suspending of all mobile phone services from 8 am till 6 pm on Jan 25.
According to the sources, the mobile services has started suspending in Lahore, Shaikhupura, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Rawalpindi Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh and Rajinpur, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Okara, Faisalabad, Pak Patan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Laiya and Bahwalpur among 27 cities in Punjab province, while Karachi, Hyderabad and Khairpur would face cellular services suspension in Sindh.
The major cities where the service will be blocked include Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sargodha, Bahawalpur and Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, pillion riding will also be banned in some major cities of the country on the occasion of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.
Earlier yesterday, the provinces had requested the federal government to suspend the cellular services on the occasion of 12th Rabiul Awwal to avert any untoward incident.
