Govt to decide imported LNG price in two days
ISLAMABAD: Price of liquid natural gas (LNG) to be imported from Qatar will be finalised with in to days,Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi said on Wednesday.
We hope to hit the bargain of 14. 5 per cent of Brent crud price which will be the best price of LNG that Qatar has offered to anyone, he said, briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources, chaired by Chaudhary Bilal Ahmed Virk.
Abbasi said a team of expert from Qatar has already arrived in Pakistan and is negotiating the rates with terms and condition at which Pakistan is set to import a supper-child fuel.
The price setting is very complicated matter but unfortunality many groups have feeding the wrong information to the media taht Pakistan has already finalised price with Qatar .
In pricing mechanism as compair to india with Pakistan ,India currently buying LNG from Qatar at around 13$ per tonne, wereas the cargo that arrived in Pakistan on 27 Apr was price at 8$ per tonne.
The Minister said that we will buy furnace oil if LNG import become sucessful.Minister said that the last rate offered to Qatar was 14. 5 per cent of Brent crud during the previous Pakistan government.But we have to kept hte benchmark at 14.5pc and hope to drage it further down.
