Five killed, 15 hurt in rocket attacks at Peshawar airport
Peshawar (December 15, 2012): At least five people were killed after Bacha Khan International Airport came under attack here on Saturday.
The airport was sealed after rockets and bullets rained on ig form all sides as it was hard to nail the location of the attackers.
According to initial unconfirmed reports, few continued blasts and repeated gun fires were heard in University Town near Peshawar Airport on Jamrod Road this evening.
At the start of blasts and firing, it was not clear that how those blasts occurred but later on it was revealed that some unknown terrorists have launched mortars at the airport.
Total three mortars were launched; two landed in University Town while one inside the airport.
Immediately after the attack, the local residents were frightened and they started to move away from the area to take shelter.
The police and security agencies rushed to the attacked site and cordoned off the area.
Initially, no casualties were reported but gradually reports about the injuries started to emerge. So far ten injuries have been reported but it is feared that the actual number could mount further.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour Visited the site and informed the media that whatever is happening it is inside the airport.
