Facebook and Instagram partially restored after massive blackout
Social networking sites including Facebook, instagram and Delivery courier have been partially restored in Pakistan and parts of the world after millions of users reported being unable to access apps around the world.
The outage was reported around 8:15 pm on Tuesday when the home page of Facebook and other Meta apps shows that users are logged out of their devices and does not allow them to log in again.
Social Media App Disruption
More than half of users reported outages on Facebook on Downdetector, while there were thousands of reports on Instagram.
Amid the outage, people took to Twitter and other sites to report the outage. Some were confused while others said they thought they had been hacked.
Social media users said they are checking Twitter/X and other platforms to see if Instagram is down. Some said they forgot their account password at first.
When will Facebook be restored?
Facebook and its Messenger services were partially functional again after a couple of hours.
Meta acknowledged that its users around the world are once again facing issues logging in due to a glitch.
With millions of people around the world unable to access Facebook and its sister apps, website issue tracker DownDetector confirms having had tens of thousands of problems accessing or using Facebook and its photo-focused Instagram network, as well as Messenger .
There were more than half a million reports of problems with Facebook and other apps, and most of the complaints were about logging into a social site. Some people mentioned having problems with Threads and other applications.
With all eyes on Meta and its technical team, company spokesperson Andy Stone said they know people are having trouble accessing services. They mentioned working to fix it now.
Social media disruptions
Facebook’s outage reminds everyone how dependent people are on the downed Mark Zuckerberg-owned company. This is not the first time that these sites are not accessible.
The longest outage occurred in 2021 and lasted about seven hours before some apps slowly returned to working order.
