Draymond Green Stuns Jrue Holiday with His Compliment By Placing Him in Steph Curry Category
Jrue vacation He recently appeared on ‘The Draymond Green Show’ to chat with Warriors star, Draymon Green. During his stay there, the Boston Celtics point guard was also stunned by the host through an incredible compliment he gave him.
Holiday has been known as one of, if not the top defender in the NBA. So many within the league have supported his ability over the years, that there now almost seems to be an aura around the 33-year-old every time he steps onto an NBA court. Speaking of the same, Green had this to say about his guest.
“You have so much respect from your teammates, as a defender, like Steph [Curry] has as a shooter. I mean the guys you’ve protected, if you talk to the guys you’ve protected, they don’t think for a second. [before saying]oh Jrue vacation [when asked who the best guard defender is]. There’s no question… Steph is obviously the best shooter we’ve ever seen. If you ask who is the best shooter, [snaps] “Steph Curry…”
This season, Jrue Holiday ranks 33rd among all players in the defensive rating category, scoring 110.8 points allowed per 100 possessions, according to NBA.com. Considering how much offenses have evolved, this rating is beyond elite. That said, it’s not just this season that Holiday has been a great defensive player. Rather, unlike many others who preceded him on this list, the player has been arguably the best defender for just over half a decade.
Considering all this, as shocking as Draymond Green’s words may seem at first, it is very difficult to argue against them. As for how Jrue Holiday took these words, this is what he responded with.
“For me it’s crazy that I like it, it’s not even a question, it’s not even a thought. Every time I hear that, I say, ‘Yes.
‘ That to me is the same madness!’ But yeah, it’s a good feeling. “I think part of the reason is I know, I’m going to sleep at night bro, I’m fine.”
While the Boston Celtics guard was humble with his response, he also didn’t seem to doubt the praise he had received. Maybe that’s precisely the kind of confidence that comes from being the Stephen Curry of the defense.
How has Jrue Holiday helped the Boston Celtics this season?
The Celtics acquired Jrue Holiday last offseason, hoping that, along with Kristaps Porzingis, he could be the addition that helps the franchise finally win a championship again. And so far, the team seems ready to do just that.
This season, the Celtics have the best defense in the league, according to NBA.com.
