Mrs. Bryant has emerged victorious in this ugly and heartbreaking lawsuit. Kobe’s tragic death in January 2020 shocked the entire world, with his fans and supporters still reeling from the ordeal of losing his idol. However, the trauma was not over for the Lakers superstar’s family.
In 2021, Vanessa sued Los Angeles County for leaking footage of Kobe’s crash site, which had caused her immense emotional damage. As the days passed, things became more personal and murky.
It started when the county required Vanessa to undergo psychiatric testing to support her claims that the images from the crash site affected her.
However, the judge ruled in Vanessa’s favor, denying that such evaluations were deemed necessary.
After months of each side making her case in court, the jury would find in Vanessa’s favor. The court’s decision ordered Los Angeles County to pay Ms. Bryant $16 million for the circulating images of her husband’s body after her tragic death.

According to ESPN, all nine jurors unanimously agreed with Vanessa Bryant and her attorneys that the photos of her invaded her privacy and caused her emotional distress. The co-plaintiff, Chris Chester, whose wife and daughter were also among the nine people who died in the crash, was awarded $15 million.
