PTV anchor who visited Israel fired from job: Marriyum Aurangzeb

ISLAMABAD: Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said a presenter from Pakistan Television (PTV), who was part of the delegation that visited Israel, was fired and taken off the air, ARY News reported on Monday.

In a major policy statement, Marriyum Aurangzeb noted that the Foreign Ministry made it clear that no delegation from Pakistan has visited Israel, adding that the presenter made the tour in his personal capacity.

The Information Minister said there had been no change in the country’s policy on Palestine. “The position of the state on the issue of Palestine is clear and there will be no policy that contradicts the wishes and aspirations of the people,” he added.

Marriyum further said that Pakistan was committed to the traditional and principled position on the issue of Palestine and Israel. “The world regards a two-state solution as the guarantor of lasting peace in the region,” he said, adding that the solution to the problems of Palestine and Kashmir is the responsibility of the international community.

“Lasting peace will remain a dream until a just solution is found for both problems.

We will continue to support the struggle of Palestinians and Kashmiris for their self-determination,” Marriyum said.

The federal minister also warned elements not to take negative action for cheap political fame by sacrificing the country’s national interest.

A day earlier, the Foreign Ministry rejected the idea of ​​a Pakistani delegation visiting Israel. “The reported visit in question was organized by a foreign non-governmental organization (NGO) that is not based in Pakistan,” the FO said.

According to the statement, Pakistan’s position on the Palestinian issue is clear and unequivocal. “There is no change in our policy on which there is complete national consensus,” she added. The statement further said that Pakistan firmly supports the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
