“This doesn’t play out, if Ime Udoka were white”: Al Horford’s sister calls out racism in support of former Celtics coach

Ime Udoka has been suspended for a year and has probably had his only year as head coach of an NBA team, but there are some voices that support him.

The NBA world has been rocked by drama in recent days and most of it has to do with the administrative aspect of the affected teams.

In the entirety of this week, Clippers owner Robert Sarver first received a one-year suspension from the NBA and after league-wide criticism of the decision, decided to put his team up for sale.

After that, Ime Udoka, the charismatic coach of the Boston Celtics who led them to the 2022 NBA Finals, received a one-year suspension for unprofessional behavior within the organization.

However, the second had mixed reactions throughout the league. And like ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, the sister of Celtics forward Al Horford says this suspension is an unfair decision for Ime because of her race.

Al Horford’s brother shows support for Ime Udoka, believes her heavy suspension has to do with race

Anna Horford has become one of the most vocal and quite famous names in the NBA community since her brother was in Oklahoma City, spending his best years on the bench.

Since then, she has been a constant buzzing for giving the great man from Boston the respect he deserves. His form last year also helped his cause.

But this time, she has spoken on a more general issue involving the head coach of Al’s team, who will see a year off the court for speculatively having a consensual affair with a woman within the Celtics organization.

Now, if we compare Sarver’s punishment for racist acts and Udoka’s suspension for a consensual affair, receiving the same treatment, the latter would seem a bit harsher.

But, that does not mean that this act of unfaithful and unprofessional conduct should go unpunished.

Let’s see if the voices of Stephen A. and Anna get more support and the league decides to reduce their punishment for the former Spurs guard.
