Shaquille O’Neal is notoriously remembered as a poor free throw shooter. However, a recent video and quote from Candace Parker says otherwise.
The modern NBA requires most players to be able to shoot the ball. However, there have been many instances where some of the most dominant players in the league are not or were not the best shooters.
Names like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Wilt Chamberlain and, of course, the epitome of dominance Shaquille O’Neal come to mind. The Great Aristotle in particular was a terrible free-throw shooter.
That said, Shaq has been working on his form. In fact, a recent video seems to suggest that things have changed.

Shaquille O’Neal has been known for years to be one of the worst shooters, let alone free throw shooters, in NBA history. The Hall of Famer averaged an abysmal 50% from the free throw line.

However, Shaq has apparently had enough of the criticism he has received for the shooting of him. To prove his haters wrong, Diesel recently posted a video on Twitter, where he can be seen making whistles.
Quoting his good friend Candace Parker, Shaq sent out a message telling fans to stop acting so surprised. He would also defend his free throw stats, stating that 50% of him proves him missing one then making one, which isn’t too bad.
It’s safe to say that the big guy proved his doubters wrong, and he did it with style and swagger too.

True, no matter what videos he posts after his retirement, Shaq will be remembered as a poor shooter. However, it should not be forgotten that only he was dominant. After all, his dominance is what led him to become a four-time NBA champion.

O’Neal truly was a generational talent, and his legacy will live on despite his poor shooting. Lest we forget the hoops, backboards and hoops that he had broken with his brute force.
