PSL 2022: Wahab Riaz, Kamran Akmal recover from COVID-19

Peshawar Zalmi skipper Wahab Riaz and goalkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal will join their team’s practice session today as they have completed their quarantine period, according to a statement issued by management on Saturday.

Wahab and Kamran had both tested positive for COVID-19, forcing them to miss Peshawar Zalmi’s first match of the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) against Quetta Gladiators on Friday.

Both players will be in action at Zalmi’s practice session, the statement added. In Wahab’s absence, veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik led the Yellow Storm, inspiring them to a remarkable victory after his heroic run in which he teamed with left-handed batsman Hussain Talat to chase a big goal of 191.

Another Zalmi player, Hazratullah Zazai, had also tested positive for COVID-19 before the Gladiators game.

Next Sunday Peshawar Zalmi will face Islamabad United in their second game of the seventh edition of the PSL at the Karachi National Cricket Stadium.
