Pakistan draw with India, reach Asian Champions Trophy 2011 final

ORDOS: Pakistan on Friday drew with India 2-2 in their final group match of the inaugural Asian Champions Trophy at Ordos in China and secured a place in the final to be played on Sunday.

Pakistan went into the second half without a goal, but came back strong by scoring two quick goals against India’s one.

The first goal came minutes into the second half and was quickly followed by another one.

The draw has placed Pakistan on top of the table and has ensured the team a spot in the final.

India’s fate in the tournament now rests on the outcome of the remaining two matches to be played tomorrow.

Pakistan had earlier recovered from a shock against Japan to overcome Korea 3-2 and boosted their chances of reaching the Asian Champions Trophy final.

The Asian Games champions, who gifted a win to Japan courtesy poor finishing, displayed a much-improved performance in their fourth match of the tournament to reach the top of the table.
