Massive fire at Kolkata hospital, 20 feared dead

KOLKATA (December 9, 2011): A massive fire broke out at Kolkata’s AMRI Hospital at around 3:30 am today, reportedly killing at least 20 people.

As many as 20 people were killed when a major fire swept through a hospital in the early hours of Friday morning in the eastern Indian city of Kolkata, officials said.

“As far as the reports go from the fire brigade, there have been around 20 deaths,” Firhad Hakim, the Urban Development Minister for West Bengal told reporters.
