Asia Lions will take on World Giants in the second match of the inaugural edition of Legends League Cricket (LLC) at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Friday, January 21.
The Lions of Asia, led by former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, suffered a 6-wicket loss to the Maharajas of India in their first match of the tournament at Al Amerat on Friday. Despite posting a total of 175 runs after opting to bat, the Asia Lions were unable to keep India Maharajas down.
For the Asia Lions on Thursday, it was Upul Tharanga who scored the most with a 46-ball 66, while captain Misbah scored a quick 44.
However, it was not enough for Asia Lions as Yusuf Pathan’s 40-ball 80, which included 5 sixes and 9 limits, helped India Maharajas chase the goal in just 19.1 overs.
Mohammad Kaif, who led India Maharajas on Thursday, chipped in a handy 42. For the Lions, only former Pakistan pacemaker Shoaib Akhtar delivered with the ball, as the likes of Umar Gul, Nuwan Kulasekara and Muttiah Muralitharan were all dry-cleaned.
The World Giants squad will be led by former West Indies captain and T20 World Cup winner Darren Sammy.
They have a variety of superstars including Kevin Pietersen, Brad Haddin, Jonty Rhodes, Albie Morkel, Brett Le and Daniel Vettori among others.
