Klay Thompson Felt Honoured To Share the Court For the First Time With the Black Mamba

Kobe Bryant is perhaps one of the most popular players in NBA history. A sports icon, Kobe had a storied career in the NBA.

20 seasons in the league, produced five NBA championships, an MVP award and much more for the Black Mamba. His performances, aside from Bryant’s mentality and his dedication to the game, are what earned him a lot of support.

At one point, the man was so popular that he was considered a “God” by many. Like Klay Thompson, who was proud to share the court with Kobe.

Klay Thompson had the honor of sharing the court with a “God” like Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant was a player, considered by many to be the second coming of Michael Jordan. With averages of 25 points, five rebounds and five assists, he certainly was the closest we got.

Given the high expectations that were set for him, and how close he came to meeting them, it’s no surprise that he was revered. The players treasured the opportunity to share the field with him, and Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson was in awe of Kobe.

To the point that he even described the Black Mamba as a “God” on the All the Smoke podcast.

“You finally get to step foot on this court with him, you’re like, ‘This is crazy. You are like a God to all of us.” That’s how he felt every time he was with Kobe. I know everything about your career. I remember you won the dunk contest between your legs. When you made your first All-Stat game in ’98 with Eddie Jones and them. All. I like being there…you don’t want to be a fanboy, but you really are.

It’s safe to say that Bryant really didn’t live up to Klay’s description. He really was a great player, and some of the things he did on the court almost seemed supernatural at times.

Kobe Bryant had a great career and Some tremendous highlight reels. From diving into superstars to shredding players with his smooth offensive abilities. But, one of the craziest things the Black Mamba did was drop 81 points on the Toronto Raptors.
