JI Bangladesh Leader Abdul Qadir Mulla Hanged
A top leader of Jamat e Islami Bangladesh Abdul Qadir Molla has been hanged on charges of massacres committed during the country’s bloody 1971 war of independence.
Abdul Qadir Mullah was hanged at 10:01 PM in a Jail in Dhaka after his meeting with his family members.
Abdul Qadir was known as pro-Pakistan JI leader who opposed creation of Bangladesh and wanted to see a united Pakistan.
“He has told us that he is proud to be a martyr for the cause of Islamic movement in the country,” Molla’s son Hasan Jamil told AFP after meeting his father.
Islamists and opposition protesters armed with crude bombs and rocks clashed with police in riots in several cities across the country after the Supreme Court announced the brief verdict paving the way for the execution.
Jamat e Islami Pakistan has also criticized government of Shaikh Haseena Wajid on this act. JI leadership in a press conference said that Hassena Wajid is trying to make Bangladesh an Indian colony.
They expressed their concern on silence of Pakistan foreign office on the matter.
