‘It will be a close contest as always’ Wasim predicts Pak-India WC clash

KARACHI: Pakistan’s former captain and legendary bowler Wasim Akram believed that the national team’s performance in the Asian Cup would be crucial ahead of the high-voltage game between India and Pakistan at the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled for the end of this year.

“It’s definitely an exciting matchup.

we won [India] last time, but first we will have to see the form of our team in the Asian Cup,” he said in the live session of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL).

“I hope Pakistan wins but as usual it will be a close game,” he added.

Furthermore, he praised captain Babar Azam for being the highest ranked batsman in the world and praised the current exceptional form of the team.

“Our team is doing very well.

Also, our captain is in great shape and he is currently the best batsman in the world,” he maintained.

Pakistan will take on arch-rivals in the group stage of the ICC T20 World Cup on October 23 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Akram, who is also a vice president of KPL, praised the league for serving as a platform for local Kashmiri players to showcase their talent while rejecting its comparison with the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

“People think that KPL competes with PSL, but that is not the case.

KPL serves as a nursery that will supply players to the PSL,” he said.

“KPL proved to be a springboard for players like Zaman Khan and Salman Irshad, and all Kashmiri players can advance like these two,” Akram concluded.
