ICC penalizes England of two WTC points for slow over-rate

DUBAI: England have been penalized two crucial World Test Championship (WTC) points by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for slow overshooting in the second Test against New Zealand.

Richie Richardson of the ICC’s Elite Panel of Match Officials imposed the penalty after England were found to be two overs from goal, cricket’s governing body announced.

As well as forfeiting the crucial points, the players were also fined 40 per cent of their match fees, in accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct for Players.

England’s points tally in the WTC standings rose to 42 after yesterday’s phenomenal win, but has now dropped to 40 points. His points percentage also took its toll, dropping from 25 to 23. zithromax
