‘I Just Felt Pressure Playing With Michael Jordan’: Justin Thomas Narrates Epic MJ Story On The Late Show
Justin Thomas made an appearance on The last show with Stephen Colbert Monday night and shared an epic story about Michael Jordan. Thomas joined host Stephen Colbert to explain how he played a money game with the legendary NBA star when he was just 15 years old.
He began the story by talking about how popular Michael Jordan was, which is why the NBA star is recognized by his initials, which is like a nickname for the basketball player.
He then began to describe what turned out to be an amazing tale that surely makes a good story for a party.
Justin Thomas’ epic fight with Michael Jordan
The golfer began talking about the time Jordan visited the Kentucky Derby to play golf, back in 2008, and was calling Junior Bridgeman to host a game, where Thomas’ father, Mike, was the head professional. For a few years, Thomas served as a caddy, and in his junior year, Jordan called Thomas to play alongside him for the final seven holes.
He described how, until then, no one knew how Thomas played and reflected on the fact that Jordan never pressured Thomas.
“He knew I played golf, but he didn’t know I was decent and no one else definitely had any idea… No, I just felt pressure playing with Michael Jordan. He said, ‘Okay, I got it.’
After that, Thomas continued to talk about his performance. He shared that he made four birdies in seven holes and that helped him pay for his first car. He then talked about how Jordan didn’t reveal the amount of money they played for, as that could have driven Thomas to freak out.
Justin, however, went on to explain how much money he won in the tournament.
“I won 3 or 4 grand. The assistant at the time was helping put things together and everyone came from 36 holes and my dad was giving me a hard time. ‘You have to tip him.’”
Thomas tipped his assistant $100 from the game winnings and is very proud that he played that game with the NBA legend and that MJ didn’t pressure him during the game.
