KARACHI: Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir called Rohit Sharma’s statement a personal opinion and stated that he is not taking him seriously for calling him an ordinary bowler ahead of the 2017 Champions Trophy.
Amir, while speaking on the ARY News program Bouncer (Special Champions Trophy), he responded to Rohit Sharma, who called him a normal bowler, that he did not take the latter’s statements seriously and that there was nothing to feel bad about.
“I do not take Rohit Sharma’s statement seriously,” Amir said. “Everyone has their own opinion and it’s impossible for everyone to consider me a world-class bowler.”
“There’s nothing to feel bad about and as professionals we shouldn’t take those things in a negative way. You can’t be everyone’s favorite,” he added.
Amir recalled his encounters with the Indian starter as he claimed him as a world-class batsman.
“He’s definitely a world-class hitter,” Amir said. “I pitched well every time I faced Rohit and he fought as he faced me, I’ll still call him a world class player,” he concluded.
Indian batsman Rohit Sharma called Amir a “normal bowler”, saying the hype around him was unwarranted when the Pakistan pacer was making a comeback in 2016.
It is pertinent to mention here that Amir dismissed Indian opener Rohit with a duck in his magical first over and produced an incredible overall bowling performance in the 2017 Champions Trophy Final against India when he came back with a 3-16 bowling spell.
