Fakhra Younus (acid victim) funeral prayer offered in Karachi

KARACHI: The funeral prayer of acid victim attack Fakhra Younus has been offered at Edhi Foundation’s Sohrab Goth Centre, Geo News reported.

The dead body of Fakhra Younus reached Karachi today amid demands of action against the perpetrators of the crime.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Co-ordination Committee members, lawmakers, Italian ambassadors and renowned social worker Abdul Satttar Edhi were among those present at the Karachi airport to receive the body.

The body was handed over to Tehmina Durrani, MQM’s Nasreen jalil and Fakhra’s sister.

The burial would take place in a graveyard in Defence.

Earlier, funeral prayer of acid attack victim Fakhra Younus was offered at the hospital ground in Rome and the body was sent for Pakistan.

Following the prayer, Pakistani embassy in Rome dispatched the body of acid attack victim for Pakistan.

In her last message before committing suicide, Fakhra had written that she was committing suicide over silence of law on the atrocities and insensitivity of Pakistani rulers.

Fakhra committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of the flat.

Her husband Bilal Khan, the son of PPP leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Ghulam Mustafa Khar, burned her face with acid 12 years ago.
