PHF announces to hold the first-ever Hockey league ‘The Max’
LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced that it will host the first ever hockey league titled “The Max” later this year.
At a press conference here, PHF President Khalid Sajjad Khokhar announced the first league, while Men’s National Team Captain Umar Bhatta was also present.
Speaking at the occasion, PHF President Khokhar expressed his gratitude for announcing the league, calling it a milestone for the PHF.
“It is a milestone for the PHF,” Khokhar told the media. “We have worked very hard for this day to announce our league. I am proud to finally announce it,” he said.
Khalid further shared that the league may face difficulties in attracting foreign players at first, but expressed hope that they will soon start participating in the league.
“We may face difficulties in dealing with foreign players at first, but over time, we hope to attract them,” Khalid said.
“This league is very important for the development of Pakistani hockey and it is a milestone for us,” he added.
The PHF president later revealed that the management team had been expanded with the help of an open tender. The management team also includes Salman Sarwar Butt, PSL’s first director.
It is pertinent to mention here that the league will initially feature five teams including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Islamabad.
