6.1 magnitude earthquake rocks many parts of Punjab, KPK

EarthQuackISLAMABAD (July 12, 2012): An earthquake measuring 6.

1 on the Richter scale jolted Islamabad besides parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

According to Meteorological Office, the epicenter of the quake was located 194 kilometres deep under Koh-e-Hindukash.

Moderate tremors were felt in Islamabad and parts of Punjab including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Jehlum, Sargodha, Chiniot, Abbatabad, Malakand, Hafizabad, Kasur, Hafizabad, Sahiwal and Jalalpur Bhatiyan.

The earthquake also rocked parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar and its surrounding region including Mardan, Chitral, Nowshehra and Kohat.

However, no report of any untoward incident has been received from any of the above parts of the country. (GEO NEWS)
