The Gray Man: Movie Preview
There is something seductive about the concept of contemporary action thriller films. The phenomenon has been around for the last two decades and has become immensely more popular as time has passed.
Hobbs and Shaw, Red Notice, Extraction and No Time to Die are included as a prime example of how fast-paced action-thriller projects can be a great source of income for producers and a well-constructed source of entertainment for viewers.
The increasingly hyped trailer for “The Gray Man” on Netflix is building its own fan base that precedes a soon-to-be-released movie packed with full-blown spy action and adventure. The trailer shows a serious narrative instead of the one that is usually sprinkled with elements of humor like in the aforementioned films.
It’s pretty fascinating how much a movie trailer can spill the beans. It offers the horizon in which one can explore the possibilities of the film waiting to be developed. The trailer obviously doesn’t convey the entire movie, but again it offers a lot to talk about and discuss, and that’s its magic.
When an individual from an intelligence agency reveals sensitive information, things start to get dangerous for him. He becomes more worrisome when a headstrong bounty hunter sets out to hunt him down. The plot unfolds in a curious way as both individuals collide in a multitude of action scenes.
‘The Gray Man’ has two protagonists: the handsome Ryan Gosling against the dashing Chris Evans. Both actors come from a supreme club of exceptionally attractive Hollywood men. However, it would be fun to see one trapped against the other in a movie that portrays the two as archenemies.
It’s pretty unlikely that someone like Chris Evans would land a negative role. While watching Ryan Gosling as a charming rebel might not be a new thing, witnessing Chris in this role would be riveting. Also, seeing these two on the same screen would be a rare sight, and yet a joy to watch, especially for Marvel fans.
Ryan Gosling has a relatively different fan base with mixed opinions and preferences. He has played a relatively diverse set of characters. However, Ryan’s interviews and his appearances on shows create a different image of him. He is most revered as a romantic blond country boy that you would often see when you visit your grandmother’s farm during the holidays (if you are in the US). He is significantly (if not entirely) known for his romantic comedies like Crazy Stupid Love and musically La La Land.
The film also features Ana De Armas as the lead female role. She herself is an exceptional woman who has earned the honor of becoming the latest Bond Girl, as well as working on an “in the works” project in which she would play the role of the infamous Marlyn Monroe.

The trailer for the film depicts action across borders, shootouts beyond measure, and feuds beyond morality.
Based on Mark Greaney’s series of action-thriller spy novels, The Gray Man looks like a pretty serious movie, similar to No Time to Die and Fast and the Furious. But here’s the twist. It has been directed with the same idea in mind, by someone (or two) who have started to show a growing interest in creating these kinds of movies. But who themselves are an icon in their own directed genre: in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
‘The Gray Man’ is an exclusive project by the Russo brothers (Joe Russo and Anthony Russo) who are responsible for bringing Marvel franchises like Captain America and the Avengers to life. The fact that such figures are at the helm of the film gives him enough credit to create the stir.
Joe and Anthony Russo aren’t usually the ones to go after something like The Gray Man. Before this trailer, the two brothers were known for their loyal compassion when creating superheroes or similar movies, mostly for Marvel.
However, their foray into this genre speaks of a different personality that these brothers have, a diverse personality and a desire to explore new terrain. One of the brothers has reportedly been involved in the writing of the upcoming Extraction 2, again a different thing to note but just as exciting.
“The Gray Man movie is a product of great waste. It is one of the most expensive movies to be released (or soon to be released) on Netflix costing a staggering $200 million. The Russo brothers spared no expense, as it has been considered a project very close to their passion.
With established actors involved, ‘The Gray Man’ is a movie packed with beginnings that is likely to premiere on Netflix this July. The movie looks pretty satisfying for a teaser. But the real dissection would be after seeing the full movie and for that, we have to look forward to the release date.
