Tauseef Ahmed appointed interim chief selector amid Inzamam-up-Haq conflict of interest probe
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former cricketer Tauseef Ahmed as the interim chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team after the resignation of Inzamam ul Haq last month.
Tauseef’s first task as chief selector will be to pick the national team for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Australia for the three-match Test series starting on December 14.
PCB has also appointed former cricketer Wajahatullah Wasti as head of the youth selection committee.
On October 30, Inzamam had resigned from the position of chief selector following allegations of conflict of interest that he was a partner in a company that manages players.
“People talk without investigating. Questions arose about me, so I decided it was best to resign.” Inzamam said in a statement.
PCB Director of Media and Communications Aalia Rasheed said on Tuesday that Inzamam should have informed PCB of any potential conflict of interest.
The media chief also clarified that wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who is also a director of the UK-based company, is not part of the investigation against Inzamam.
