Supreme Court orders Sindh police to arrest Shahrukh Jatoi within 72-hour
Islamabad (January 7, 2013): The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday gave 72-hour dead line to Sindh police to arrest Shahrukh Jatoi, the alleged murderer of Shahzeb Khan.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry resumed the hearing of the sou motu case.
During the hearing today, Inspector General Police Sindh Fayyaz Lagari and the Sindh advocate general also appeared before the bench.
Sindh Police submitted its investigation report over the murder before the bench stating the key accused Shahrukh Jatoi had fled to Dubai using fake identity.
The CJ remarked that police had intentionally helped Jatoi to flee the country, adding that the police had tried to damage to case by registering new FIR.
“Police are afraid of influential people.”
The IG requested the court to give 15 days to arrest Jatoi but the bench rejected his plea and gave 72 hours to the police to arrest the main culprit.
