Karachi Shut down after arrest of MQM MPA Nadeem Hashmi
The arrest of former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA Nadeem Hashmi led to scenes of violence and wide-scale closure of the city on Wednesday.
Earlier this morning, Nadeem Hashmi was arrested during a raid carried out by the Karachi police at his residence.
Other MQM workers were also arrested. A murder case was registered against the former MPA at the Hyderi police station.
Violence erupted in various cities of Sindh today [Wednesday] after the arrest of former member Sindh Assembly Nadeem Hashmi belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement in the murder case of two police personnel.
Our Karachi representative says that people took to streets and forced the traders and schools to close down businesses in the city.
The transport alliance has also announced to keep the transport off the roads in the city on Wednesday.
Incidents of violence have been reported from Hyderabad‚ Sukkur‚ Mirpur Khas and Tandu Allah Yar.
Meanwhile‚ Pakistan Rangers in its crackdown in various parts of the Karachi today arrested twelve criminals and removed close circuit cameras installed by them.
According to a spokesman of the Rangers‚ raids were conducted in North Karachi‚ Saddar‚ Ranchore Line‚ Ghas Mandi‚ Salar Compound‚ North Nazimabad and PNT Colony.
