Johnny Depp celebrates win over Amber Heard at restaurant
Actor Johnny Depp spent more than $62,000 (Rs158,000) at an Indian restaurant to celebrate victory in his libel case against ex-wife Amber Heard.
A foreign news agency reported that he dined with 20 friends, including English musician Jeff Beck, at the Varanasi restaurant in Birmingham, England. He also left a generous tip.
The Varanasi restaurant took to Instagram to share photos from their trip there.
“The most talked about person on the planet right now joined us for dinner last night!” the subtitle said. “We had the greatest pleasure to be in the presence of Johnny Depp and Jeff Becks!
“What an amazing and humbling experience. Only at the Varanasi restaurant!”
The restaurant’s director of operations Mohammed Hussain said the Pirates of the Caribbean security team phoned them to inquire about reservations.
“We got an unexpected call on Sunday afternoon saying that Johnny Depp wanted to come to eat with a group of people,” he recalled. “I was surprised, and at first I thought it might have been a joke.

“But then his security team came and searched the restaurant, and we let them have the whole place because we were worried other diners might disturb him.”
He spoke highly of Johnny Depp, saying that the actor hugged and took photos with the staff along with friends and family of the restaurant bosses.

“He was very humble, and he stayed to talk and greet everyone. She met my three daughters and they had her tell them some one-liners from her movies. She did ‘you’re weird’ from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” Hussain said.
It is pertinent to mention that a Virginia jury ruled that actress Amber Heard defamed her ex-husband Johnny Depp in a widely watched six-week trial that featured explicit and graphic evidence and testimony detailing the former Hollywood couple’s acrimonious relationship.
The jury also found in Heard’s favor on some aspects of her countersuit against Depp.
The jury awarded Depp $15 million in damages from Heard. The panel awarded Heard $2 million in damages.
