After World Cup Victory, Prizes Shower on Indian Players
New Delhi: It was a windfall of prizes, both in cash and in other forms as soon as the Men In Blue created history at Wankhede by lifting the World Cup after 28 long years.
After the BCCI announced a cash prize of Rs 1 crore each to every team member, governments and other authorities too were quick to join in.
Gujarat CM Narendra Modi, lauding the team’s superb effort, announced ‘Eklavya Award’ for two Indian team members from the state- Yusuf Pathan and Munaf Patel.
Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit announced a cash prize of Rs 2 crore for skipper MS Dhoni and Rs 1 crore each for the 4 Delhi players in the team- Virendra Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Ashish Nehra and Virat Kohli.
