“170 dollars for Shaq Attaqs??”: Shaquille O’Neal’s Reeboks are out to rival Michael Jordan’s sneakers
Shaquille O’Neal has always been a champion of affordable shoes – Reebok’s latest ad is anything but affordable.
Reebok is bringing out a throwback take on an iconic silhouette. The Shaq Attaqs are back, the other Reebok shoes that people love. The first, of course, are the Reebok Kamikazes, worn by Shawn Kemp.
Putting them back on shelves is exciting for fans, considering they haven’t been out for a while. The last retro was almost a decade ago, so it made sense to bring them out now.
But Reebok has fooled sneaker fans. They took a cheap shot by pricing them at $170. These shoes are now the same price as the Air Jordan, a much more popular shoe among the masses.
The masses dictate what they want, and it is not this. Shaq himself only wears custom loafers now, so getting them back without his endorsement is almost suicide.
LOOKS GOOD ON PAPER – The pump technology is fun and retro.
But other than that, it’s just a bulky shoe that hasn’t aged well at all.

Shaquille O’Neal has to come out and talk about these shoes. Did she approve of the price of $170?
The Shaq brand has always been about affordable footwear for growing kids in need. She has publicly said that she launched this brand because a mother told her that she couldn’t afford her shoes.
The Reebok deal surely paid him more money, but it also kept him from being accessible to the masses. He made the move, probably for this very reason.
$170 for Shaq Attacks? Walmart Shoes FTW

So re-introducing one of his most iconic sneakers from his time as a Reebok for the price of a fancy dinner in New York seems counterintuitive.
Even big-name players like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Damian Lillard sell their shoes for under $170. Retro shoes are cool and all, but for outdated tech? No way.
Reebok Pumps were fun in 2015, with the Insta Fury Pump serving as a quirky alternative to conventional shoes. Yet 7 years later and many other shoe brand upgrades later, no one is willing to pay $170 for technology that was used 30 years ago.
They will never see asphalt or hardwood in their lives.
They are strictly for display or casual shoes and frankly $170 is too much!
