“Isn’t Malika Andrews From The Bay Area?”: NBA Twitter Reacts to ESPN Reporter’s Old Clip Mocking Warriors’ Title Chances

An old clip of ESPN’s Malika Andrews gunning down the Warriors winning another title after Kevin Durant’s departure goes viral on Twitter.

ESPN’s Malika Andrews has been a pretty polarizing personality when it comes to the NBA media. The Oakland native caused quite a stir when she replaced veteran journalist Rachel Nichols. It didn’t stop there, with Andrews headlining the NBA Today show, which replaced The Jump.

Initially greeted with open arms, things seemed to have turned upside down for the late ESPN reporter. Andrews has been the subject of endless trolling, most notably posting her back and forth with Stephen A. Smith on First Take in light of the recent scandal involving former Celtics coach Ime Udoka.

Andrews, who has been sparring quite a bit on social media lately, may have also turned Dub Nation against him. An old clip of the NBA Today host has gone viral, with her stunned by co-panelist Marc J. Spears’ statement that the Warriors won a title after KD’s departure.

Needless to say, Dub Nation was going to get their revenge on Andrews, given that they won the chip and Durant was swept 4-0 in the first round of the playoffs.

NBA Twitter reacts to Malika Andrews’ skeptical view of the Warriors winning another championship after Kevin Durant’s departure.

To the surprise of many, the Warriors are once again at the top of the NBA, winning their fourth title in 8 years. While many had written off Stephen Curry and co-published Durant’s exit, Dub Nation had faith in his championship DNA and it paid off. So it was the perfect time to settle the score with ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins and Malika Andrews.

To be fair, like many others, Andrews made this statement at a time when the Warriors were coming off a play-in elimination, with a healthy Klay Thompson yet to return. However, in today’s age of social media, every public figure needs to be careful with even the smallest gestures and reactions.
