‘If it was inevitable, it must have happened by now’ Ramiz on his sacking

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja has spoken for the first time about speculation of his dismissal as PCB Chairman.

Speaking at the press conference after the Governing Board meeting, Ramiz avoided speculation about his removal from the chairmanship of the cricket board.

“It’s been two and a half months, so if it was inevitable, it would have happened by now,” Ramiz said.

“We cannot live around speculation. I think there is a need for continuity beyond political differences,” she maintained.

The PCB President further revealed that he invited the Chief Patron of the PCB, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to brief him on the work being done and urged that political differences be put aside to improve the sport.

“Look, our prime minister is our boss, we have requested his time and if he meets us, we will tell him about our work.

I think there is no need for ego here as, in the end, we all want an improvement in cricket,” Ramiz said.

“If there is something in the constitution about removing the PCB chairman every time, go ahead. Otherwise, fulfilling individual wishes will not work in favor of the game. The ball is in his court. [PM Shahbaz]Ramiz concluded.

It is pertinent to mention here that since the overthrow of the Imran Khan government, rumors began to circulate that the new government might remove the PCB chairman from office.
