Venkatesh Prasad shuts Virat kohli critics with unselfish post
Venkatesh Prasad supported Virat Kohli after there was heavy criticism for him putting personal milestone before team milestone.
While some pundits and fans were amazed by Virat Kohli’s sublime hundred against South Africa, which also equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of ODI centuries, others felt that Kohli slowed down a bit, feeling that he was getting close to the hundred. The word ‘selfish’ was trending all over Twitter and continued to trend even the next day as some fans did not like Kohli’s hundred. However, Venkatesh Prasad did not hold back his emotions and posted a heartfelt Tweet on social media stating that Kohli is not selfish.
Kohli’s decisive knock allowed India to defeat South Africa by a huge margin of 242 runs and remain unbeaten in the tournament. Parsad said
“Hearing funny arguments about Virat Kohli being selfish and obsessed with personal milestones.Yes, Kohli is selfish, selfish enough to follow the dream of a billion people, selfish enough to strive for excellence even after achieving so much, selfish enough to set new benchmarks, selfish enough to to ensure your team wins.
Yes, Kohli is selfish.”

Talking about Kohli, he is India’s leading run-scorer in the World Cup, with 523 runs in seven games. He has also scored two hundreds in the World Cup so far against Bangladesh and South Africa. However, in both centuries he slowed down a bit, and some fans and pundits did not like the fact that Kohli scored the century ahead of the team.
But that is not the case as Kohli continued to score and allowed the other batsmen to play aggressively up front. Furthermore, Kohli’s slowdown approaching 100 had no effect on India’s net run rate or the context of the game.
Is the century more important than 100?
The debate over whether the century is important is endless, as some feel that the team should always come first, regardless of whether it wins or not. While some feel there is no harm as long as the team wins. In Kohli’s case, the team is winning and that is the only thing that matters.
